Our department manages a comprehensive portfolio of studies, necessitating committed personnel who are passionate about supporting our participants and advancing research initiatives.

This team operates under the Division of Neurology, Mental Health, Ageing, and Neurodegenerative Disorders, focusing on a diverse array of clinical trials.

We pride ourselves on our diverse team, which includes research nurses, practitioners, and administrative staff. Collaborating closely with clinicians, we aim to facilitate and execute research across various patient demographics. Our team members come from a multitude of professional backgrounds, including Nursing, Mental Health, Psychology, Biochemistry, and the NHS.

The Clinical Research Network: Thames Valley and South Midlands is one of the local Clinical Research Networks within the NIHR Clinical Research Network (NIHR CRN). These local networks are instrumental in driving clinical research performance and advocating for the significance of clinical research within the NHS.

Key Responsibilities

As a research staff nurse, you will play a crucial role in facilitating the research pathway for participants involved in clinical trials. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing, planning, and implementing care for clinical trial participants during their research visits.
  • Collecting and documenting precise data and maintaining accurate records of care as required.
  • Providing support across a variety of research studies and demonstrating flexibility to work within a broad portfolio.
  • Assisting in the recruitment and retention of participants.

You will be expected to meet the expectations and capabilities as assigned by the Sponsor, Chief Investigator, or Principal Investigator, in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the Research Governance Framework.

Collaborating effectively with service delivery colleagues is essential to ensure high-quality care and experiences for participants.

You will be responsible for evaluating and managing the care pathways for patients and caregivers participating in clinical studies, primarily focusing on Ageing, Dementias, and Neurology.

Working closely with the clinical trials team and the broader multidisciplinary team, you will manage your own caseload of clinical trial patients.
