Position: Aircraft Avionics Specialist


Location: RAF Coningsby – Shift Work


Compensation: £37,356 based on skills and experience



Key Responsibilities:


  • Conducting maintenance and inspections on aircraft avionic systems, components, and installations during scheduled servicing, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Ensuring all maintenance activities adhere to design specifications and meet the standards outlined in relevant technical publications.
  • Acting as first and second signatories, enabling the execution of Technician duties.
  • Performing a variety of maintenance tasks, including stripping, repairing, modifying, and maintaining equipment, which involves removal, installation, and functional testing under appropriate supervision.
  • Demonstrating competence in working with approved data, including maintenance instructions and schedules for both planned and unplanned tasks. This requires the ability to interpret basic engineering drawings, complete necessary documentation, and prepare work for inspection. Additionally, showcasing the ability to follow diagnostic procedures and provide mentorship to team members through on-the-job training. May have the authority to self-certify a specified range of complex tasks.

Qualifications and Experience:


Essential:


  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, preferably in Aeronautical Engineering, or equivalent military qualifications.
  • Aircraft platform type training (as required) – educated to ONC level or equivalent military training.
  • Experience in maintenance on Typhoon or fast jet aircraft.
  • Familiarity with quality procedures, processes, and specifications, including MIL Depth Maintenance (MAOS MIL Pt145) experience.
  • Experience with Typhoon Q.

Desirable:


  • Experience with Depth Maintenance documentation (ESS/IMS and related toolsets).

About the Typhoon Maintenance Facility Team:


This role is situated within the Typhoon Maintenance Facility, collaborating with the RAF to execute maintenance, repair, and upgrade tasks to fulfill the requirements of the UK Typhoon fleet as part of the TyTAN Managed Maintenance contracted service.


Engage with cutting-edge technology supporting the Typhoon fleet globally while working directly on the aircraft alongside RAF personnel.
