Role Responsibilities:
The Director of Airport Fire Operations is tasked with ensuring a fully operational Emergency Fire & Rescue Service, dedicated to saving lives and safeguarding property in accordance with company standards and aerodrome licensing regulations. This role is integral to the airport management team, ensuring that the Airport Fire Service is seamlessly integrated into the overall airport operations.
The Director collaborates with the airport leadership to drive the continuous development and enhancement of the Airport Fire Service, including operational policies, procedures, and workforce planning. Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing recruitment and colleague engagement
- Managing financial resources and asset renewal strategies
- Ensuring comprehensive training and competency programs
- Implementing performance management and regulatory compliance
- Providing strategic guidance during major incidents as part of the airport Incident Management Team
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in leading and developing large, diverse operational teams, with a focus on long-term strategic workforce planning. Essential skills include:
- Strong analytical and forward-planning capabilities
- Ability to leverage data for operational decision-making
- Effective communication and influence across all organizational levels
- Self-motivated, innovative, and proactive approach to team coordination
Experience in an airport or complex operational environment is required. Additionally, candidates must hold:
- NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent
- Intermediate IT literacy
- Valid UK Full Driving Licence
- Compliance with MAG medical and physical assessment standards
Due to the nature of this position, candidates must have resided in the UK for the past three years.
