About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Estimator to join our gas construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and developing project cost estimates, as well as defining the associated level of confidence. This role will involve working closely with the project team to establish the project scope and identify gaps in the available information necessary for project cost estimation and risk.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to define what is needed to improve the quality of the available data for the purpose of producing more robust estimates. They will also be responsible for challenging the available detail, obtaining relevant missing information, and developing assumptions to track progress and manage relevant governance reviews and sign-offs.

This position will report directly to the Senior Estimator and will involve undertaking estimations for gas construction projects. The successful candidate will also be responsible for updating processes and procedures for estimation. Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills are essential for this role, as the candidate will be liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage project cost estimates
  • Define the associated level of confidence
  • Work with the project team to establish the project scope
  • Identify gaps in the available information necessary for project cost estimation and risk
  • Define what is needed to improve the quality of the available data
  • Challenge the available detail and obtain relevant missing information
  • Develop assumptions to track progress and manage relevant governance reviews and sign-offs
Requirements:
  • Estimating experience in the utilities industry
  • Ability to interpret technical and cost information
  • Construction experience and knowledge
  • Full UK car driving licence
