The successful candidate will engage in high-profile projects across diverse sectors, which may involve occasional travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent the organization with professionalism and integrity at all times.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including design teams, regulatory bodies, and utility companies.
- Participate in meetings with clients, project teams, and contractors to ensure project alignment.
- Deliver comprehensive engineering designs for electrical building services and power distribution systems, including necessary calculations, analyses, schematics, and specifications.
- Oversee project management from initial concept through to post-construction phases.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, standards, and best practices.
- Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) in line with the requirements of the relevant professional institution.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
Mandatory:
- Chartered Engineer status or actively pursuing CEng accreditation within six months, with a degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services, achieving a 2:1 or higher.
- A minimum of five years' experience in building design engineering, both in the UK and internationally.
- Proven expertise in designing electrical building services systems, with a clear rationale for design choices.
- Experience leading electrical engineering efforts on multiple projects with a construction value exceeding £30 million.
- Demonstrated knowledge of low carbon design principles.
- Experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers, sharing technical insights and expertise.
- Ability to fulfill the responsibilities outlined above.
- Legally authorized to work in the relevant country.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage sensitive information discreetly.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to responsibilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Adaptable and flexible in approach.
- Strong relationship-building skills at all organizational levels.
- Resilient under pressure, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Collaborative team player, willing to assist and support colleagues.
Desirable Attributes:
- Project management experience with a solid understanding of financial principles.
- Background in delivering projects in sectors such as Education, Healthcare, Retail, Aviation, and High-rise Mixed-Use Developments.
- Proficiency in a second language.
- Specialization in areas such as Lighting Design, Vertical Transportation, IT Infrastructure, Security Systems, Acoustics, High/Medium Voltage Systems, Earthing, Bonding, EMC, Lightning Protection, UPS and Generators, Fire Safety, or Building Information Modelling.
- Familiarity with software tools including Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Microstation, Rhino, AGI3, Dialux, Relux, Radiance, Elevate, Amtech, Hevacomp, InDesign, NBS Create, and Microsoft Office Suite.
