Key Responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing delivery and support for well-recognised clients worldwide, ensuring database integrity, security, and performance.
- Identify SQL database/instance performance optimisations and implement solutions to improve efficiency.
- Perform SQL Server patching, support customer release deployment activities, and upgrades.
- Write database & client documentation, including procedures and definitions for customer environment specifics.
- Ensure database maintenance procedures are functioning correctly and carry out capacity planning and provisioning of SQL Server instances or databases.
- Manage the HA and DR aspects of SQL Server and act as level 3 support for the DBA team, available for 24x7 coverage.
Requirements:
- Experience working in SQL Server Production Environments and managing critical situations.
- Experience working with SQL Server FCI & AlwaysON, troubleshooting & configuration.
- Understanding query tuning concepts and identifying performance bottlenecks.
- Strong written and spoken English and ability to identify opportunities and issues in SQL Server environments.
- Ability to help plan tasks for less experienced team members and to support and mentor.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with Azure SQL Databases and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
- Basic concepts of Azure DevOps.
- Experience of other databases including but not limited to CosmosDB, Postgres, MySQL.
- Experience of SQL Server Migrations to the public cloud.
