Maintenance Engineer Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Biffa Waste Services. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient maintenance and repair of our plant and equipment, ensuring health and safety compliance and contributing to continuous improvement in operations and plant availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out installation work to the required standards.
  • Develop and implement a programme of planned preventative maintenance and inspection to minimise downtime, provide records of recurrent faulting and develop engineered solutions to these issues.
  • Carry out minor maintenance operations to plant and equipment.
  • Liaise with external contractors on specific repairs/maintenance work.
  • Keep abreast of changes to health and safety and environmental legislation and Company policies to ensure defined standards and best practice are implemented.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company policies, processes and procedures.
  • Review maintenance activities, implementing necessary corrective actions as required.

Requirements:

  • Engineering qualifications NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Mechanical, Electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic qualifications.
  • Minimum of 2-years' experience as Maintenance Engineer or position of similar responsibility in similar environment.
