About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Optometrist to join our dynamic and friendly team at Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The role of a Specialist Optometrist is varied and stimulating, working in Ophthalmology clinics such as glaucoma, medical retina, cornea, and cataract, as well as supporting our core optometric services.

As a Specialist Optometrist, you will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team, providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the development of our optometry services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage patients with a wide range of ophthalmic conditions
  • Work collaboratively with consultants and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care
  • Develop and implement clinical guidelines and protocols to improve patient outcomes
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of optometry services, including teaching and clinical supervision
Requirements
  • General Optical Council registration
  • College of Optometrists' higher qualification in area of clinical specialism (Prof Cert, Higher Cert or equivalent)
  • Member of College of Optometrists
  • Significant post-qualification optometry experience with exposure to a wide range of ophthalmic conditions
  • Experience teaching and providing clinical supervision
  • Experience working with adult and paediatric patients who are visually impaired & patients with learning disabilities
  • Experience with referral triage
