Head of Financial Reporting & Accounting

MMP Consultancy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Financial Reporting & Accounting to join their team in Liverpool.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Financial Reporting: Establish fair value of net assets acquired, prepare acquisition accounting entries and notes to the financial statements, and ensure comprehensive accountability for monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  2. Leadership Role: Guide the Financial Reporting function to achieve the audit timetable, lead a gap analysis of accounting policies between the acquisition, and create a plan to harmonise policies or document ongoing differences.
  3. Technical Accounting: Manage technical and central accounting areas such as provisions, insurance, pensions, property, intercompany, VAT, CIS, Apprentice Levy, and ensure that all reconciliations are fully reconciled, documented, evidenced, and approved.
  4. Strategic Planning: Support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning processes, manage cash flow position, short and long term, and collaborate with wider teams.
  5. Audit and Compliance: Lead the audit process, collaborating with the wider group and Finance team, provide up-to-date knowledge of relevant accounting standards, and act as internal technical lead, liaising with external advisors as appropriate.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience in financial reporting and accounting, with a strong background in IFRS15/16.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to guide and motivate a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and follow up on high-risk areas.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with external parties, including banks, auditors, and advisors.
