Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our team at NewOrbit Space and contribute to the development of our air-breathing electric propulsion technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Development: Collaborate with our electronics team to design and develop high-performance, reliable software solutions for mission-critical aerospace applications.
  • Embedded Systems Expertise: Utilize your extensive knowledge of embedded systems design and development to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components.
  • Full Lifecycle Development: Manage the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) from initial concept through deployment and maintenance, with a focus on reliability and safety.
  • Device Driver Development: Design and implement software drivers based on device datasheets, with a strong emphasis on translating hardware specifications into efficient, reliable software.
  • Testing and Verification: Leverage unit testing frameworks and Test-Driven Design (TDD) principles to ensure the quality and reliability of our software solutions.
  • Build Systems: Utilize build systems such as CMake to manage project builds, dependencies, and cross-compilation for embedded targets.

Requirements

  • Advanced Degree: Hold an advanced degree (MEng, MSc, or PhD) in Electronics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on embedded systems or aerospace technology.
  • Industry Experience: Possess a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in embedded software engineering, with a proven track record in the aerospace, defense, or related industries.
  • Hands-On Electronics Skills: Demonstrate strong hands-on experience with electronic build processes, including soldering, wiring, and using tools such as oscilloscopes and multimeters for testing and validation.
