Automotive Technician

Gi Group is seeking a skilled Motor Vehicle Technician to join our team at a public sector client in Rotherham. As a Motor Vehicle Technician, you will be responsible for providing a workshop support service and ensuring the effective utilisation, general care, maintenance, and security of materials and equipment used in workshops.
Main Duties:- Utilise machinery and equipment in a competent and safe manner.
- Ensure safe stacking and storage of materials and equipment.
- Issue materials and equipment from stores to workshops.
- Maintain all plant, small tools, and other equipment.
- Prepare materials as required by teaching staff.
- Carry out general preparatory works for student projects.
- Break down student work, including projects, and reclaim materials.
- Maintain all workshop areas in a safe, clean, and tidy condition.
- Assist in maintaining security of stores and workshops.
- Undertake minor works depending on trade background and experience.
- Receive deliveries of materials and equipment.
- Assist in stocktaking and maintaining records relating to materials and equipment.
- Employ safe working practices and comply with relevant Health and Safety Regulations.
- Participate in the provision of First Aid assistance if required.
- Assist in other department workshop areas (i.e., fork lift truck driving).
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
- Relevant experience working within the Motor Vehicle Industry.
- Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy.
- Craft certificate (NVQ Level 1) or equivalent in an associated engineering trade.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people receiving education and training.
- Good trade skills.
- Good IT skills.
- Good knowledge of Health and Safety.
