About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Traffic Engineer to join our Traffic Management and Road Safety Team at Swindon Borough Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in managing and improving our highway and transport network, ensuring it is safe, effective, and efficient.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the identification, prioritization, and management of traffic management and road safety improvements in accordance with council policy and statutory requirements.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop and implement effective traffic management strategies and road safety schemes.
  • Collaborate with the team to analyze accidents, design and manage projects, and apply national and local guidance and standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the public, local authorities, and other organizations.
Requirements
  • HND/HNC or equivalent in traffic or transport/civil engineering, or compensatory experience.
  • Experience working with the public and key stakeholders relating to traffic management and road safety.
  • Experience in road safety, including collision analysis and formulation and implementation of road safety schemes.
  • Experience using specialist software relevant to the role.
  • Fluency in English (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
