About the Role

We are seeking an experienced VAT Accountant to join our Finance & Tax team in Nottingham. As a VAT Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting UK VAT compliance activity, preparing the UK Quarterly VAT Return for the UK VAT Group, and contributing to ongoing process improvement and systems refinements.

Key Responsibilities
  • UK Quarterly VAT Return Preparation: Prepare the UK Quarterly VAT Return for the UK VAT Group, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK VAT rules.
  • Data Extraction and Analysis: Extract data from various IT applications, verify the data, and analyze transactions by applying UK VAT rules.
  • Transactional Reviews: Perform transactional reviews following internal SOPs and HMRC VAT compliance guidance.
  • International VAT Compliance Support: Support the UK Tax team with International VAT compliance preparation and review.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: ACA (or equivalent) or CTA (part or fully) qualified tax professional, or CCAB or ATT qualified.
  • Experience: Experience of working in a complex International Group with a range of VAT recoverable rates, production of UK and International VAT returns, and robust knowledge of current UK and International VAT legislation.
  • Skills: Good communication and influencing skills with stakeholders at all levels, experience of data manipulation from multiple sources, and advanced Excel skills.
