About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Employment and Education Specialist to join our Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Team in Oxfordshire. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges to achieve their employment and education goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of up to 15 service users aged 14-25 who are currently Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET) and receiving mental health support.
  • Provide job and education retention support to service users who are at risk of losing their job or education placement.
  • Meet and exceed job and education outcome targets for service users.
  • Build relationships with clinical teams and attend weekly multi-disciplinary meetings to discuss new referrals, create new referrals, and feedback progress to the wider team.
  • Attend appointments with IPS clients to discuss and feedback their progress.
  • Discuss how the IPS employment and education support can help clients return to work or education.
  • Build a multi-disciplinary approach to the return to work or education, involving clinical staff, medication reviews, and supporting rehabilitation needs.
  • Prepare individuals for a return to work or education by supporting service users to understand their skills, aspirations, and goals through vocational and educational profiling and action planning.
  • Focus on rapid job search if required, utilizing local support networks to help service users overcome their barriers to employment or education.
  • Source opportunities for service users through tailored search and regular contact with employers or course providers.
  • Develop effective working relationships with external agencies, such as local colleges, training providers, and external supported employment services.
  • Organize and facilitate courses and workshops for the recovery college, focusing on employment and education services and information.
  • Work with and have knowledge of the benefit system to signpost and develop collaborative working relationships with organizations that provide benefit advice.
  • Provide education and support as agreed with the individual, including negotiating adjustments, return to work or education strategy, and ongoing contact to ensure job or education retention.
  • Provide individualized support to service users once they have returned to work or education to assist them in sustaining it.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with service users and key internal and external stakeholders, with particular attention to confidentiality and the maintenance of boundaries.
  • Adhere to administrative and data capture protocols, recording the progress of individuals, and keep accurate and complete records of casework.
  • Ensure effective monitoring and evaluation systems are adhered to and keep abreast of changing practice within vocational rehabilitation.
  • Undertake mandatory training as required, including training in the IPS approach.
  • Actively participate in own continuous professional development.
  • Ensure all relevant policies are implemented, such as information governance and safeguarding.
  • Regularly collect and promote service user employment recovery stories.
