Shared Lives Carer Recruitment

At the London Borough of Merton, we are seeking dedicated individuals to join our Shared Lives Scheme as Carers. This unique community-based model of care and support offers a rewarding experience for those who can provide a safe and supportive living environment for vulnerable adults.

About the Role

As a Shared Lives Carer, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals who require support. Our Scheme currently has 49 bed spaces across the Borough, and we are looking to expand to offer more placements to those in need.

Types of Support

We are looking for Carers who can provide support to individuals with a range of needs, including:

  • Older adults living with dementia
  • Young people in transition from foster care
  • Individuals with learning disabilities or physical impairments
  • Those living with mental health needs
  • Individuals who are leaving hospital but not quite ready to go home
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need to have:

  • Some form of care experience, whether personal or professional
  • The ability to communicate effectively
  • Flexibility, commitment, and a caring attitude
  • One to three spare bedrooms in your home
  • A willingness to undergo training and support
Preferred Qualifications

We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who have experience in caring for those with learning disabilities or autism, or who have experience in caring for individuals with challenging behavior. Additionally, having a ground floor bedroom with ground floor access to a bathroom/toilet would be an advantage.
