Job Title: Kitchen Assistant / Host

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant / Host to join our team at Westerton Care Home. As a key member of our culinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality food and beverages to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of food and beverages to residents.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment in the kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Receive, check, and store kitchen deliveries safely.
  • Implement safe food handling practices and cleaning procedures.
  • Ensure the dining area is well-presented and maintained.
  • Practice safe systems of work and adhere to health and safety legislation.
  • Act professionally and courteously at all times.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment and encourage collaboration.
  • Advise and liaise with the management team on food supply and quality.
  • Responsible for the safe and tidy storage of supplies and equipment.
  • Provide meals and drinks to residents and assist with mealtime as needed.
  • Ensure fridges are clean and food items are correctly stored and labelled.
  • Set up the dining room for meals and oversee the use of satellite kitchens.
  • Change menu displays daily and serve food from hot trolleys.
  • Lead the dining room team and allocate staff as needed.
  • Provide refreshments outside of meal times and maintain communication with the chef.
  • Collect mealtime feedback from residents and ensure daily tasks are carried out in accordance with company policies and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow health and safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe environment.

  • 27.5 hours per week.
