Sports Coach Job Description

GSL Education is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sports Coach to join our team of professionals in South Yorkshire. As a Sports Coach, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality Physical Education (PE) lessons and sports activities to students of all abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons and sports activities that cater to different abilities and age groups.
  • Work closely with students to improve their physical skills, fitness levels, and knowledge of sports.
  • Lead sports clubs and extracurricular activities, including competitive school teams.
  • Promote teamwork, fair play, and resilience, ensuring all students have the opportunity to participate.
  • Support teachers and staff during PE lessons, helping to organise games, activities, and sports events.
  • Help manage and maintain sports equipment and ensure a safe environment for all participants.
  • Provide support for students with additional needs, ensuring their full inclusion in physical activities.
  • Act as a positive role model, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices and participation in physical exercise.

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Sports Coach, Physical Education (PE) Assistant, or in a similar role within a school or sports setting.
  • A passion for sports and physical education, with the ability to inspire young people to engage in physical activities.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and adaptability in working with students of all abilities, including those with additional needs.
  • Coaching qualifications in a relevant sport (desirable but not essential).
  • Ability to organise and lead sports events, games, and competitions.
  • A valid DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.
