Position Overview:

We are seeking a qualified Class 1 Shunter Operator to facilitate the efficient movement of heavy goods vehicles within our operational yard. This role is essential for ensuring that vehicles are properly positioned for maintenance, inspections, and other necessary services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely maneuvering company vehicles to transport goods between various locations.
  • Performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain safety standards.
  • Adhering to all traffic regulations, company protocols, and safety guidelines.
  • Relocating trailers to and from the service area.
  • Executing general yard operations to ensure seamless workflow.
  • Assisting with brake and deck testing at the inspection facility.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Possession of a valid Class 1 driving license.
  • Clean driving record with a valid driver's license.
  • Experience operating large vehicles in a commercial environment.
  • Ability to drive safely under varying weather conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic laws, safety protocols, and vehicle upkeep.
  • Excellent communication abilities and a collaborative mindset.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills for precise documentation and timely operations.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in inter-depot logistics or delivery roles.
  • Familiarity with GPS systems and route optimization.
  • Understanding of warehouse logistics and operational processes.

Working Environment:

  • Driving company vehicles within the yard, including some loading and unloading tasks.
  • Performing general yard duties to support operational efficiency.
  • Exposure to typical industrial conditions, including noise and vehicle emissions.

This position is initially temporary but offers the potential for a permanent role, providing an excellent opportunity for career advancement.
