About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Associate with a commercial IP specialism to join our team at Sheridans. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial IP matters and other IP advisory issues, as well as the ability to deal with associated contentious matters on behalf of clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advising on commercial IP matters relating to content, including production, exploitation, and distribution on various platforms
  • Drafting related agreements, such as podcast agreements, content licensing and distribution agreements, production agreements, media buying, and creative agreements
  • Brand work, including advising clients on brand strategy, brand protection/creation, brand licensing, and similar co-branded joint ventures
  • Advising and drafting commercial contracts with agencies and their stakeholders in relation to advertising and marketing campaigns
  • Advertising regulatory advisory work, including advising clients on digital regulation, online safety, and handling complaints or investigations by regulators
  • Advising on sponsorship arrangements, including celebrity endorsements and social media and influencer marketing arrangements with talent
  • Talent advisory work, including advising talent on business dealings, business ventures, image rights, licensing, and income arrangements
  • Advising clients in relation to shareholders' rights and interests, including working closely with our corporate teams to provide transaction support in relation to IP matters
  • Working on supply chain matters in relation to goods and services, including merchandise production and fulfillment, manufacturing agreements, distribution agreements, tech licensing agreements, e-commerce arrangements, and freelancer/consultant agreements
  • Brand enforcement and prosecution work, including drafting cease and desist letters in relation to IP infringements and working closely with our trade mark department and litigation department
  • Dispute resolution in respect to matters concerning breach of contract, including drafting letters before action, advising clients on litigation/alternative dispute resolution strategies, mediation, and settlement
  • Reputation management in relation to both brands and talent
Requirements
  • Enthusiasm, resilience, and a professional approach, with an excellent customer service ethic
  • Strong understanding of commercial IP matters and other IP advisory issues
  • Ability to deal with associated contentious matters on behalf of clients
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with other members of the team and build and manage relationships with clients
