About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join our team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacy team in providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dispensing and labeling medications accurately
  • Issuing medications to patients
  • Working in our Clinical Trials department
  • Spending time with patients taking an accurate medication history and offering advice
  • Producing IV antibiotics, Total Parental Nutrition, and Cytotoxic IV/Infusions in our large aseptic units
Requirements
  • Registered pharmacy technician in the UK by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or working towards qualifications suitable for registration as a pharmacy technician with the GPhC within the next six months
  • Numerate and literate GCSE in Maths and English A* to C or equivalent or IELTS test score 7 as required by GPhC if overseas candidate
  • Additional pharmacy qualifications such as APTUK Foundation Framework Management training, Practice supervisor or TAQA Medicines Management qualification, PIPC ACPT
Desirable Skills
  • Hospital pharmacy experience
  • Stock control/ordering experience
  • Providing a ward-based medicines management service
  • Aseptic pharmacy experience
  • Clinical trials or research experience
  • Experience of using JAC or similar pharmacy-based computer systems
