About the Role

We are seeking an Environmental Specialist to join our team at Manchester Airport. As an Environmental Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring that Manchester Airport operates in compliance with environmental legislation and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement processes and standards for identifying, assessing, mitigating, and controlling environmental risks, such as pollution, emissions, waste, and noise.
  • Investigate environmental incidents and implement remedial measures.
  • Provide expert advice and direction to operational staff.
  • Liaise with stakeholders on ecological matters.
  • Control environmental licenses and consents.
  • Sustain the ISO14001 standard and the corporate EMS system.
  • Facilitate the creation and enactment of anti-pollution initiatives.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have a degree in environmental science or a related field or have equivalent industry experience.

You should also be a member of IEMA or a similar organisation and have a solid understanding of environmental legal requirements and pollution prevention.

You should be able to develop and manage mature environmental management systems and have an auditor qualification, preferably as a lead auditor.

You will possess strong communication and influencing abilities, along with robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
