Position Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Estimator / Estimating Manager with a robust background in Energy, Power, or Nuclear New Build. This role is permanent and offers opportunities across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the establishment of a benchmarking database and reporting mechanisms to ensure timely and precise guidance for decision-making.
- Deliver outstanding client service through quality assurance and consistent client engagement.
- Act as a representative of the company in client teams during commissioned roles.
- Participate in customer meetings and negotiations, ensuring all necessary clarifications and presentations are prepared in advance.
- Provide expert cost advice to stakeholders, including Procurement Specialists, Cost/Contract Management Personnel, Estimators, and Project Controls.
- Independently generate estimates at various project stages utilizing diverse measurement methods and estimating software.
- Conduct estimating, cost planning, and estimate assurance activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong grasp of industry benchmarks and best practices, along with measurement methods (e.g., RMM, MMHW).
- Proficient quantity surveying skills and a thorough understanding of the construction industry.
- Insight into cost drivers that influence projects and the ability to translate engineering data into actionable cost insights.
- Capacity to constructively challenge colleagues to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present cost-related information clearly.
- Established network within the infrastructure sector.
- Familiarity with estimating software and proficiency in creating custom spreadsheets for cost monitoring and reporting; experience with Power BI is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Recognized expertise in cost estimation practices.
- Experience in the Nuclear, Traditional, or Renewable Energy Generation sectors is preferred, though insights from other industries are also welcomed.
- Sound understanding of relevant AACE RP's and estimate classification systems, demonstrating knowledge and application of each class level.
- Degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience and qualifications.
- Desirable membership in RICS, CIOB, or A. Cost E.
- Ability to inspire and develop teams while nurturing future talent for the organization.
- Proven experience in significant infrastructure projects, particularly major programs of work.
