The Site Safety Specialist is pivotal in fostering a workplace culture that prioritizes safety, environmental stewardship, and the well-being of all employees. This role is integral to the management of safety protocols and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight for maintenance, operational, construction, and engineering activities across various functional areas, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
- Review and evaluate risk assessments and method statements from service partners and contractors, ensuring they are comprehensive and appropriate for the associated risks.
- Manage high-risk work activities, ensuring compliance with the Permit to Work system and that all safety measures are effectively communicated and implemented.
- Assess safety training needs for service partner employees and contractors, ensuring compliance with site safety policies.
- Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to restore safe operations.
- Ensure effective follow-up on corrective actions arising from audits, inspections, and safety observations.
Essential Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, or Engineering.
- NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.
- Extensive experience in Health & Safety within regulated industries.
- Knowledge of facility operations and engineering principles.
- Experience with construction safety practices and Permit to Work systems.
- Membership in a professional organization, such as IOSH.
- Understanding of the Research & Development process and GxP requirements.
- Ability to build strong relationships with external partners to ensure safe service delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to model compliance standards effectively.
