Job Summary:

The Vocational Learning Coach – Motor Vehicle Specialist will be responsible for providing specialist additional learning support to students in the Motor Vehicle department. This will involve working closely with the Curriculum area to plan and prepare lessons, and assisting students with their learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist additional learning support to students in the Motor Vehicle department.
  • Work closely with the Curriculum area to plan and prepare lessons.
  • Assist students with their learning and development, including modifying and preparing learning materials.
  • Prioritize the needs of adult learners with high needs.
  • Attend regular Additional Learning Support Good Practice Forums, Vocational Learning Coach, and 'At Risk' meetings.
  • Link with the Vocational Student Engagement Officer to monitor the attention, retention, and achievement of students with additional support needs.
  • Work closely with the Deputy SEN Manager to support the transition of students into college, including taster sessions, student interviews, and parents' evenings.
  • Assist individual or groups of learners during their attendance at college, including note-taking, reading, writing, and acting as a prompt.
  • Participate in the implementation of Quality Procedures in relation to Additional Learning Support.
  • Attend ALS team meetings and multi-agency meetings as required.
  • Show an active commitment to the College's Equality & Diversity Policy, Quality Frameworks, and Health & Safety Procedures.
  • Participate in Continuous Professional Development, including the introduction of new technologies.

Requirements:

  • An appropriate Level 2 qualification or equivalent in supporting students with learning difficulties/care, or the commitment to complete within an agreed timescale.
  • Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • A commitment to undertake any mandatory training relevant to the role.
  • Knowledge of health and safety issues.
  • Knowledge of the process of assessment of risk.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and students at all levels.
  • Knowledge of/experience in working with students with learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • Demonstrate and evidence Vocational experience in the Motor Vehicle sector.
