Supervisor

We're looking for a Supervisor to join our Transportation team based in Birmingham. In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing the delivery of planned maintenance, reactive works, third-party repairs, winter services, and scheme-related activities. You'll ensure effective supervision of both directly employed teams and subcontractors to maintain high standards of safety, quality, and performance. Could this be you?

Contract: Permanent – Full time

What will you be responsible for?

As a Supervisor, you'll be part of the Transportation Maintenance team, overseeing the delivery of operational works on the contract. Your role will ensure activities are properly supervised to meet health and safety standards, stay within budget and programme timelines, achieve client satisfaction, and fulfil all key performance indicators (KPIs).

Your day to day will include:

- Accountability for Operative behaviours when carrying out their operational duties including HR, HSEQ, commercial and administration, promoting health & safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with the general health & safety responsibilities

- Actively promoting the company culture and values including equal opportunities and respect for all, championing use of, and compliance with the SHEMS

- Undertaking shift briefings, site inductions, toolbox talks with all operational staff identifying risks and hazards and managing / maintaining relevant records, completing site records, daily allocation sheets, daily handover reports, diaries and audit checks

- Ensure work packs are relevant and suitable for purpose, ensuring all site-specific hazards are managed, conducting inspections monitoring workmanship and material quantities for all works, carrying out various audits including: gate checks, works surveillance safety audits, depot inspections, health and safety site inspections as required, allocating daily and supervision of works and resources to maintain compliance with works programmes

- Assisting with the management of incidents and defects cascaded through the OCR, communicating with sub-contractors, the emergency services, general public, clients and customers, take part in the development, recruitment and selection of new operatives and apprentices

What are we looking for?

This role of Supervisor is great if you have:

- Relevant experience in a supervisory role along with knowledge of highway works in carriageways / footways

- Can drive and hold a full driving licence

- NRSWA operative / Supervisor qualified
