**JOB DESCRIPTION Title**: RECEPTIONIST Base: Ivel Medical Centre, Biggleswade Reports to: Deputy Practice Manager Accountable to: Practice Manager Hours: Negotiable (Full time/Part Time) Cover for Annual Leave and Sick Leave is expected. Early morning starts and occasional Saturday mornings during flu immunisation season An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Ivel Medical Centre for a Receptionist to provide reception and administrative support to staff and patients to assist in the smooth running of the Practice. JOB SUMMARY To receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. To provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

To ensure necessary and relevant paperwork is available for every Clinician at the start of their surgeries If necessary, to enter patients details on the appropriate waiting list To ensure patients with any suspected contagious symptoms are appropriately isolated To ensure any non-attenders are recorded appropriately at the end of each clinical session To ensure that all information input into the computer system is both accurate and complete, and has been entered into the correct section on the computer To collect patient medical fees and provide receipts To deal with the requests for the collection of non-dispensed prescription To deal with funeral directors regarding cremation documentation Administration To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures To work in accordance of written protocols Pulling/filing notes for surgeries and updating as necessary Filing post in medical records Photocopy as requested At the beginning of the day to prepare the Practice in readiness for doctors, nurses, staff and patients and to ensure the Waiting Rooms magazines and leaflets are tidied at lunchtime. To be aware of Clinician's Rota and the Daily Duty Doctor /Team To deal with any patient requests and to enter on the computer and run off visit report for Clinicians. To highlight any emergency request visit to Duty Clinician. To register new and temporary patients accurately on the Practices computer system.

All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data All matters relating to patients' health and personal affairs, and matters of commercial interest are strictly confidential and under no circumstances is such information to be divulged to any unauthorised person.
