**Role Profile**
SHAP is a housing charity that works with young people who are homeless or vulnerable. Our aim is to prevent homelessness wherever possible and to address the multiple factors that contribute to it. We operate across the Liverpool City Region offering a range of supported accommodation and community services.

SHAP Ltd and The Whitechapel Centre, in partnership with Liverpool City Council, deliver an accommodation service for Homeless Families based within a modern purpose built setting for up to 16 families who are homeless and in need of accommodation in Liverpool.

This role is provide the support to homeless families and their children in our accommodation project in Liverpool

Shap provides:

- accommodation, support and floating support services for young people, families, lone parents and couples with children who need support to improve or enhance their parenting skills and to secure permanent accommodation
- Residential family assessments in an Ofsted registered residential family assessment centre

An Enhanced DBS is a requirement for these roles.

**Salary:£26178 including shift allowance**

**£300 bonus paid on completion of probationary period**

**Training to C&G level 3 diploma will be provided.**

**Annual Leave**:
27 days per year, _**excluding**_ statutory Bank Holidays (full-time)

**Hours**:
37.5 hours per week (full-time)
- To be worked flexibly on a rota which will include waking nights, weekends and public holidays according to a published rota._
- Shift Allowances are paid per planned night, calculated on an annual basis and paid to all permanent employees, regardless of sickness or holiday periods._

**The Role within Shap**
The role of Project Worker is a front-line service role reporting to the Manager. The post holder will be an active and effective member of the team, working with colleagues and the Manager to deliver high quality accommodation, housing related support, guidance and advice to a wide range of vulnerable and socially excluded families and their children.

Working as part of a highly professional team, the Project Worker will support families by working with them to change habits and behaviours that hinder the progression of their lives. The work includes empowerment to enable them to take control of their lives and achieve a number of key outcomes, including:

- Independent living skills
- parenting and childcare skills
- Community links and social inclusion
- Meaningful occupation and pathways to employment
- Social skills and self management
- Quality of life and aspirations
- Health and wellbeing
- Financial management and economic wellbeing
- Reduction in offending behaviour
- Management of alcohol and substance misuse issues
- Keeping themselves and their children safe.

She / he will support the values of the organisation and work to ensure they are upheld at all times.

Delivering service to a high standard is paramount to this role when working with families who may have complex and challenging support needs. The postholder is expected to utilise their personal skills in order to persuade, engage and motivate them to secure positive outcomes. This enables them improve their parenting, secure better outcomes for their children and sustain their accommodation.

This is a varied and demanding hands-on role, requiring a timely and professional approach. It requires appropriate self initiative, thinking and actions to respond to the needs of vulnerable and socially excluded families. Therefore knowledge of safeguarding, methods of assessment and housing together with a keen interest and experience of working with vulnerable, socially excluded people would be an asset in this role.

It is acknowledged that out of office hours shift working is required.
