PFF Packaging Group are a well-established medium sized manufacturing company with sites based in Keighley and Sedgefield. The company manufacture plastic packaging mainly for the food industry and have extrusion, thermoforming, in-mould labelling and printing machines. We are the largest independent company in our field and have a growing product base which is supplied to various retailers throughout the UK.

Due to a number of changes within the Group, including an investment in increasing the number of machines within our Keighley site, we have a number of vacancies within our production area.

**Main Purpose**: The production assistant is responsible for the production and/or packaging of a variety of manufactured products. These positions are a support role for several areas of manufacturing, including but not limited to thermoforming and extrusion.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Packer**

Perform production duties such as packaging, taping, manual lifting, labeling operations and sorting.

Ensure products are packed correctly in accordance to the packing specification for each order.

Carry out and document quality inspections per SOP, accurately and on time.

Report any defects or out of spec product, to the shift manager or quality coordinator.

Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and signed.

Ensure removal of all good products from within the skeletal waste before re-starting machine during roll changes.

Carry out all machine clean downs as instructed on the SOP.

Ensure all waste or defect product is segregated and placed in relevant containers, to enable appropriate removal.

The correct PPE must be worn where stated and safe working practices adhered to.

Always maintain a clean, organized and safe environment.

**Labourer**

1. Ensure production is provided with all correct raw materials for each machine according to the production plan.

2. Ensure accurate data input or scanning is carried out throughout the process using the IT system as instructed, this includes the scanning of reel labels and the scanning, labelling and booking of finished goods stock into the warehouse.

3. Ensure completed product is stacked and labelled correctly and has the correct signage.

4. Weigh, scan and re-label all part reels.

5. Weigh, record and clearly label all non-contaminated skeletal and tray waste before taking into granulation area.

6. Carry out reel changes and re-start machines (only if trained and signed off).

7. Ensure all paperwork relating to roll changes are completed accurately and that the rolls are used in numerical order where possible.

8. Ensure all finished goods pallets are wrapped as instructed on the SOP and completed paperwork is accurate.

9. Provide production with all the ancillary goods required (pallets, liners, boxes and tape).

10. Assist and work with other departments.

11. Cover any role trained to carry out when requested.

12. Always work to the safe working practices and quality standards required.

**Granulation Assistant**

1. To ensure Extrusion Technician is supplied with clean, contamination free raw material.

2. Adheres to all Health & Safety Regulations and safe working practices, wearing PPE issued by company.

3. Ensure all granulated or bailed product is weighed accurately, stacked neatly, labeled correctly and marked with the correct signage, whether it is going in or out of granulation.

4. Ensure Thermoforming are supplied with empty baskets.

5. To ensure all required data is recorded accurately into the IT systems or paperwork.

6. Ensure all waste is segregated and bailed accordingly.

7. Ensure all clean downs are carried as instructed on the SOP and maintain an organized, clean and safe working environment at all times.

**Salary**

**Salary**: Production Assistants - £10.40 an hour (salary £22,700) This is an hourly/weekly paid role.

Overtime is paid at 1.25 rate.

Hours of work Alternating 7am - 19.00pm and 19.00pm - 7am 4 on 4 off shift Pattern

Holidays 24 days inclusive bank holidays
