The Engagement, Activities and physical therapies role involves working with patients in a 1:1 or group activity both on the ward and with community facing engagement.

The role looks to build meaningful and structured engagement in a range of physical activity. The post holder will be responsible for working along the the occupational therapist with creating and achieving realistic physical activity goals to support with a safe and sustained transition to the community

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic member of staff to drive forward and implement initiative to meet the physical health needs of our client group. The position of Engagement, Activity and Physical Therapies Practitioner (EAP) post IS linked to NHS England's CQUIN "managing a healthy weight in a secure setting"

This role will involve developing and implementing a varied timetable of in house exercise groups and will focus creatively on healthy lifestyle and nutrition. In addition to this, there will be an expectation of developing this role alongside the occupational therapy team evidencing outcome measures as an indicator of success.

Bowman ward is a 12 bedded Low secure ward working males over the aged of 18 with serious and enduring mental illness.

Our emphasis is on providing a therapeutic environment, offering a holistic approach to treatment in a safe and supported space which promotes rehabilitation and recovery.

Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team on the ward, the post-holder will:
1. Use their specialist knowledge and skills of sports and exercise to plan and provide a flexible, client-centred programme of exercise/sports activities and other appropriate interventions for patients on bowman ward.
2. Contribute to the individualised assessment and treatment of patients on bowman ward under the supervision of Occupational therapist. This will involve setting realistic and achievable goals with patients as well as providing feedback for clinical meetings
3. Be responsible for their own caseload of patients within their sphere of knowledge and skill, seeking advice and guidance when necessary.
4. Be responsible for maintaining the sports and exercise resources on the wards, including ordering of equipment and ensuring safe use.

5. Be responsible for developing and embedding the role of engagement, activity and Physical therapies (EAP) practitioner onto the ward.
