**Theatre Assistant**

**Hours: 37.5 hours per week**

**Location: Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, WA12 0JJ**

**Reporting to: Theatre Manager**

**Accountable to: Hospital Manager**

**Who are Pall Mall Medical?**

Pall Mall Medical is an independent Private Hospital with two theatres and 11 beds. We provide both day case and overnight facilities, predominantly to patients who are undergoing elective Cosmetic Surgery. We also perform some Gynaecology, Urology and ENT procedures.

Hospital facilities include:
Ø 2 theatres (1 laminar flow)

Ø 11 private, en-suite bathrooms

Ø Minor ops suite

Ø Endoscopy suite

Ø Diagnostic suite (MRI, CT, X-Ray, Mammography)

Ø Consultation suite

Case mix:
Ø General anaesthetic, local & sedation, local anaesthetic procedures

Ø Elective Cosmetic Surgery, Gynaecology, Urology and ENT procedure

Aside from the hospital services, Pall Mall has two city centre clinics in Manchester and Liverpool, where we provide rapid access to a wide & holistic range of private healthcare services, including: Private GP appointments, specialist consultations, advanced diagnostics, health screening, occupational health and medico legal services.

**What will you be doing?**

Our Theatre HCAs play an essential role in the smooth running of our theatres and help us maintain our exception levels of care. Theatre HCAs assist the surgeon and wider theatre team with the safe passage of patients through the surgical pathway.

**Duties will include**:

- Assist with the administrative function of the surgical team including the accurate documentation of records.
- Assist the scrub nurse and surgeon during surgical procedures and to accept training towards assisting surgeons in a scrub nurse role
- Assist with ensuring that clinical waste collection runs smoothly, reporting any problems to the theatre manager or nurse in charge.
- Assist the theatre team to ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patient’s notes.
- To assist in the management of surgical records and appointment systems.
- To assist with the safe dispatch, arrival and set up of surgical instruments, loan kits and equipment.
- Effectively clean the operating theatres between cases and at the end of each day in accordance with infection control policy
- Prepare patient, self, equipment and materials appropriately for the surgical list to be undertaken. Ensuring support is given to patients throughout and encouraging them to promote their own health and well being
- Co-ordinate with other colleagues and staff in maintaining theatres and ensuring all stock, consumables and equipment is fit for purpose
- Ensure in and out booking of breast implants by size and serial number, see that all patients receive the correct implants for the day of surgery
- Assist in minor procedures within the company to ensure patients needs are met to the highest standards
- Assisting and maintaining the endoscopy suites, ensuring this is clean, tidy and fit for purpose for each case
- Carry out such other reasonably related duties appropriate to the grade, as assigned by the Team leader for their area, the Theatre Manager or nurse in charge.
- Any other duties deemed to be necessary for the needs of the business.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £11.00 per hour
