**Salary**: TA4 Points 12-17 (£19,621 - £21,519)

**Job Type**:Permanent, Term Time only +5 (36.25 hours per week)

**The Role**

**Job Purpose**
- To supervise a prepared lesson in the absence of a class teacher ensuring that in doing so the students’ learning and development is continued and maintained.
- To have a flexible approach when cover is not required and be willing to carry out administration tasks including those related to Teaching and Learning, or support students as requested.
- To work as an exam invigilator if required.
- To provide support with break and lunchtime supervision as required.

**Specific Duties**
- In the absence of a teacher, provide supervision of, and be solely responsible for, a class of students during any timetabled period of the school day
- Deliver the prepared form time curriculum and register students appropriately
- Promote the school’s values and virtues within the classroom, ensuring that there is a calm working environment for students, and consistently implement any related policies, such as those related to Behaviour and Rewards
- Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other relevant professionals, in liaison with the class teacher, to support students’ learning and progress, ensuring that all students’ needs are met
- Communicate the work set by the class teacher to the students and ensure that students are aware of the teacher’s expectations during the course of the lesson with regard to task completion. Collect completed work and return it to the class teacher as appropriate
- Accompany teaching staff and students on educational visits as appropriate
- Participate in appropriate school-based meetings and training activities
- Carry out duties at break, lunch, before or after school and be willing to support other aspects of school life
- Undertake any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of the duties, responsibilities and grade of this post

**Qualifications/Skills**
- Qualifications/training equivalent to GCSE Grade 5/C Grade/ O Level Pass in English and Mathematics.
- Competent ICT user
- Able to communicate effectively with a range of young people and adults including parents and carers
- Knowledge of and compliance with policies and procedures relevant to child protection, health and safety
- Good organisational and planning skills and able to use own initiative
- Ability to promote positive behaviour and discipline
- Ability to use ICT effectively to support learning, report writing and general administration to support the Learning Support Team
