**Best Interest Assessor - Knowsley**

**About the job**:
Are you a skilled and experienced professional with a passion for advocating for the rights and well-being of vulnerable individuals? 3D Recruit are seeking a dedicated Best Interest Assessor to join and play a crucial role in ensuring that individuals lacking capacity receive the highest standard of care and support. It is a locum role where you will be on an initial 3-month contract with the potential to be extended

**As a Best Interest Assessor within this team, you will have the following responsibilities**:

- Capacity Assessments: Conduct thorough and impartial assessments of individuals' capacity to make specific decisions about their care, accommodation, finances, and other important aspects of their lives. Utilize a person-centred approach to explore the individual's wishes, feelings, beliefs, and values.
- Best Interest Determination: Evaluate the best interests of individuals who lack capacity, considering their past and present wishes, beliefs, values, and any relevant factors. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including health and social care professionals, family members, and advocates, to reach informed decisions that promote the individual's well-being and autonomy.
- Care Planning and Decision-Making: Assist in the development of care plans and support arrangements that reflect the individual's assessed best interests. Provide clear and reasoned recommendations to decision-makers, including local authorities, courts, and other relevant bodies, to ensure that decisions are made in accordance with legal requirements and ethical principles.
- Safeguarding: Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, particularly in cases where individuals may be at risk of abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Work collaboratively with safeguarding professionals to mitigate risks and protect the individual's rights and dignity.
- **Documentation and Record Keeping**: Maintain accurate and detailed records of assessments, decisions, and interventions in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Ensure that all documentation is clear, concise, and up to date, facilitating transparency and accountability in the decision-making process.
- **Continuing Professional Development**: Stay abreast of developments in mental capacity law, relevant legislation, and best practice guidelines. Participate in regular training and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in best interest assessment and related areas.

**Requirements**:

- 2 years of Qualified Social Work experience
- 2 year of BIA experience
- 5 years of satisfactory references
- Driving License with access to a vehicle
- SWE Registered
