Key Duties:

- Generating new packaging formats / specifications as defined by external or internal customers
- Identify and deliver continuous improvement programs to deliver cost savings in line with overall manufacturing objectives
- Liaise with all relevant departments on the transfer of new packaging into manufacturing and ensure that all the appropriate specifications and packaging materials are available
- Develop, initiate, and manage implementation of ECO’s to address product quality, cost and design issues
- Ensure that appropriate manufacturing test and validation is performed on packaging materials and processes employed in the manufacturing process; ensure appropriate testing is performed to confirm the “fit and function” of products
- Ensure root cause investigations are carried out in response to respond to reported packaging defects. Analyse and approve corrective actions proposed to address quality issues. Monitor field response to confirm the effectiveness of implemented corrective actions
- Identify cost savings opportunities in materials and processes; plan and perform testing to validate changes that capitalize on these opportunities; document and release changes
- Understanding of FMEA processes
- Control all files and revision changes to all packaging specification drawings
- Log all Packaging Control sheets documenting approved packaging specification changes
- Communicating and liaising with customers and key departments within the company to implement design changes to packaging components
- Support of final artwork proofing & approval
- Ensure all packaging meets Production, Marketing and Quality standards
- Mentor and coach more junior members of Packaging Technologist team on company and industry best practices to improve business performance
- Perform any other duties/tasks/projects as require by management

Skills and Experience Required:

- An HND in Science, Engineering or Design is a minimum requirement
- Experience in use of Adobe creative suite is required, mainly in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign
- Experience using a technical drawing CAD package (SolidWorks) is preferred however training will be provided
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Clear communication skills
- Excellent Design /Technical skills
- Strong team-working abilities
