House Project Lead

Staffordshire are excited to announce that we are going to be working in collaboration with the National House Project. Setting up our very own House Project in the South of Staffordshire, based in Tamworth.
The House Projects supports young people leaving care to create their own homes and live connected and fulfilling lives. The House Project are co-designed with young people. They work together to develop relationships and learn skills that enable them to live successful adult lives.
**This role is for 3 years, fixed term.**
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and adaptable Project Lead who will help develop the House Project. You will have the required skills to create good working relationships with the project’s stakeholders. You will provide line management and reflective supervision to the Young Person’s Practitioner in the team, including group reflection to support a high performing team culture.
You will have experience of working directly with children and young people in a social care, education, housing or youth work setting, experience of working closely with other agencies and professionals (statutory and voluntary) and be able to demonstrate highly developed communication and influencing skills in a variety of contexts with young people.
You should have an understanding of the social, emotional, safeguarding and practical challenges facing young people in care and care leavers and understanding of how these may be overcome.
For this role you will need;
- Degree level qualification, ideally in related field e.g. Youth Work; Social Work, Housing, Project Management
- A minimum of two years’ experience working with young people.
- Experience of being able to use own initiative when making decisions and managing staff.
- Experience of providing effective support and supervision of staff.
- Experience of being able to take responsibility for your own and team members’ performance, by setting clear goals and expectations, tracking progress, ensuring feedback, and addressing performance problems and issues promptly.
- Experience of working with Children in Care and Care Leavers and a good understanding of the vulnerabilities of cared for children and young people
- Understanding of the needs of teenagers who are pregnant, and teenage parents.
- Understanding of the education, training and work experience needs of young people, and the opportunities open to them.
- Working knowledge of the accommodation needs and housing
