This advert is for Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprentice posts based at Bristol Royal Hospital for children working with Children and Young People.

An apprenticeship in Health and Social Care with University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) could be your first step towards a rewarding career in health care. Bristol Royal Hospital for Children is part of UHBW. As an apprentice Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) you will be working alongside our nursing staff. HCSW are a crucial part of the multi-disciplinary team, delivering a high standard of care to our adult patients. You will be working with Registered Nurses and helping to provide care and therapy to adult patients.

You will receive training in the workplace and off the job and will be fully supported in your learning by Weston College. Apprenticeship contracts are fixed term for a period of 21 months (NVQ Level 3) dependent on previous relevant experience and if working full time. Previous healthcare experience is not required, but an interest in the role is essential as well as a caring, compassionate attitude.

As an acute trust we deliver care to our patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Therefore, you will be required to cover a variety of working patterns, these will include twelve and a half hour shifts, nights, weekends and bank holidays. On occasion, we may have a very limited number of Monday to Friday posts supporting our outpatient areas during “office hours”.
