We are seeking to appoint a policy engagement research fellow who will work within Prof Kat Holt’s team on the AMRnet project funded by the Wellcome Trust. The successful applicant will engage closely with public health practitioners and policy makers to undertake qualitative research on the use of genomics data on pathogen populations and drug resistance, and its potential to inform decision making about infectious disease control (e.g. vaccines, empirical therapy). They will work with other members of the project team to develop use cases, and coordinate engagement with the project’s policy advisory group. They will collaborate on preparation and delivery of reports and presentations to a wide range of stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic, cross-disciplinary skills and expertise in infectious disease genomics and public health policy, to work within a collaborative and supportive team based at LSHTM (see holtlab.net). This role can be undertaken flexibly with respect to the amount of time you choose to spend in the office vs working remotely. You will have opportunities for career development, including support to develop your own research ideas and initiatives, and to gain experience in MSc-level teaching and/or supervising research students across a range of domains relevant to public health (depending on your specific expertise and interests).
