Yard Supervisor

**WEIGHBRIDGE AND LOADING SUPERVISOR.**

The Weighbridge and Loading Supervisor (WLS) is accountable and responsible for checking the quality of the paperwork for all incoming loads and communicating any special instructions to their team or the BPS to ensure the loads are correctly identified and segregated.

**Roles & responsibilities**:

- Ensure correct PPE is available to Operators and that external drivers have PPE to comply with the site rules.
- Ensure site rules are supplied to all non-regular drivers.
- Safe loading of all vehicles in the loading area and warehouse.
- Acting as a ‘Yard Marshal’ to ensure all operators enforce vehicle safety rules.
- Directing all vehicles to their correct delivery points.
- Deputise for the Battery Processing Supervisor (BPS) during holiday or absence.
- Actively promote the Ecobat Business System (EBS) and facilitate continuous improvement within the workplace.
- Raise supervision in the workplace, by being a visual leader.
- Raise H&S standards, by challenging unsafe acts, completing behavioural based safety audits (BBS) and ensuring all safety critical checks are completed on time.
- Ensure training records are updated weekly until the standard of a multi-skilled team has been achieved.
- Ensure that general Loading activities are undertaken in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Ensure full knowledge of SOP Inspection of tipped battery loads. When deputising for BPS, ensure all vehicles are tipped following this procedure.
- When deputising for BPS, ensure that all material and material transfers are allocated to the correct process storage area in accordance with instruction from the Site Co-ordinator / operations management, and that they are of the desired quality for their intended use.
- Ensure full understanding of Sample procedures and schedule.
- When deputising for BPS, ensure that all material receipts are inspected and sampled in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Maintain stocks in process storage bay stocks to ensure optimum process plant operation.

**Qualifications & experience**:

- A strong understanding of the principles to ensure Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.
- Continuous improvement in company health & safety performance.
- Qualified to NEBOSH General Certificate level.
- High level of leadership, supervisory and people skills.
- An understanding of lean principles including 5S and TPM.
- An understanding of production processes to ensure reliability and efficiency.
- Experience in planning and organising production schedules.
- Determining quality control standards, including standard operating procedures.
- Excellent IT skills, strong presentation, communication and numerical skills.
- Excellent methodical / organisation skills and accuracy.
- Self motivation and an ability to use your initiative and work pro-actively.
- A strong understanding of the importance of and commitment towards upholding HSE.
