**JOB DESCRIPTION/PERSON SPECIFICATION**

**Job title: Sitting Service**

**Location: Llwyngwril**

**Hours of work: 9.5 hours per week.**

**Rate of pay: £12.10 per hour**

**Introduction**:
A committed, caring and flexible sitter/assistant is required to support an elderly gentlemen I his own home whilst family members are away for a few hours at a time. Robin is a friendly chap who is grateful for the help that he has. He enjoys listening to books being read to him, listening to the radio, and enjoys art or art books.

Hours to be agreed in advance and average 5-6 hours at a time. Preferably Tuesday or Thursday but can be flexible to suit.

This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and is intended to enable this family to manage their support independently. Training can be provided as required and where available.

**Main Duties**:

- Support in the home and ensuring safety at all time.
- To prepare/provide food for Robin.
- Robin enjoys listening to someone reading to him but this is not essential.
- May involve emptying urine bag.
- Provide companionship at home and engage in lively positive conversation.
- Support and encourage with some independent living skills.
- To carry out any other reasonable requests that the employer may make from time to time.

**Person Specification**:

- Caring, honest, responsible and patient.
- A good sense of humour.
- Reliable with good time keeping.
- Able to use own initiative and be self-motivated.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and be aware of privacy.
- An ability to develop and maintain a supportive relationship.
- Good communication and inter-personal skills.
- Active and energetic.

5.6 weeks’ holiday per year (pro rata).

Sick pay at SSP rate.
