As our ESG Packaging & Compliance Co-ordinator, you’ll play a key role in the business’ packaging sustainability & cost mitigation goals for Halfords Group. This role will work alongside our ESG Programme manager, and Packaging Manager, but will be exposed to suppliers and a variety of internal teams, including (but not limited to): Buyers, quality, global sourcing, procurement, logistics, operations and continuous improvement teams.

You will support our range review process, liaising with suppliers, buyers and packaging manager to identify best materials + formats, tailored to each range. This role will support an increased visibility of our sustainability on pack, (i.e OPRL, FSC, PEFC labelling) as well as driving awareness within Halfords. In addition to sustainability, there will also be legal compliance requirements and involve working with quality team & packaging manager to meet requirements.

**Compliance**:
1) EPR reporting (Packaging, WEEE, Batteries) in UK & Ireland
2) Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT) submissions
3) Day-to-day management of External compliance Schemes (i.e PRNs)
4) Opportunity to attend external events, including peer-group at British Retail Consortium (BRC)

**ESG**:
1) Packaging Project Management (i.e plastic-reduction, use of PCR, promoting recyclability)
2) Presenting progress updates
3) Delivering Training/contributing to an internal resource centre
4) Adhoc support with wider ESG activities, including Supply-Chain Management, Waste, C02-reduction

**Knowledge**:

- 3+ years’ in role that requires data management (required)
- 3+ years’ experience in a role managing external parties (required)
- Previous experience as packaging technologist
- Knowledge of Producer Responsibility regulations and future changes (Extended Producer Responsibility - EPR)
- Awareness and understanding of packaging terms (PCR, Waste Hierarchy, Circular Concepts, how to avoid-greenwashing)
- Experience working with Retailers

**Where is it based?**

We offer hybrid working, with a requirement to visit our three sites semi-regularly, and, on the rare occasion, some store visits may be required for strategic projects. Your ‘base’ will be at our Support Centre in Redditch, Worcestershire.
