**The primary purpose of the job is to ensure that the CrowsNest Merlin aircraft/equipment maintenance and trials flying are carried out efficiently and to quality in accordance with regulatory and corporate procedures.The trials flying incorporatesa phase of Flying then the aircraft is put in to a maintenance package of circa 8 weeks to clear maintenance for the next phase of Flight Trials activity.To do this, the applicant will need advanced and specialised skills to carry out and lead the activitiesto be completed, solving problems of a routine nature, providing supervision proportional to the level of competence and experience of the technicians being supervised.
The Client need Mechanical and Avionics contract staff for a 6 month rolling contract to support the Merlin Forward maintenance tasks and operational trials flying from Boscombe Down.You need to be Merlin SQEP with appropriate records to prove competencefor authorising to work as a 1st, 2nd or 3rd signature and maintain records for competency on the Merlin aircraft type whilst working to meet the maintenance task.The shift pattern is day working - with normal or extended days as is required by the maintenanceor the Flying Programme.**

Key Accountabilities

- Working with integrity at all times, raising concerns immediately
- Compliance with all relevant legislation, including HS&E
- Compliance with client policies, procedures and manuals
- Completion of tasking within the scheduled time and at an appropriate quality
- Ensuring that he/she has the appropriate tools and equipment to carry out assigned tasks
- Ensuring that his/her delivery manager is aware of the progress/status of assigned tasks
- Identifying to his/her delivery manager when a task is complete and he/she is available for other tasking to be assigned
- Ensuring that all work is properly documented; including update of aircraft technical records and supporting aircraft maintenance information systems as required
- Quality of his/her own work and for the quality of the tasks performed or services provided by those he/she is supervising
- Ensuring his/her competency is at the required standard for the work undertaken
- Ensuring his/her competency as a 1st signature in the first instance
- Ensuring that employees under his/her supervision undertake work in a safe manner
- Appropriately delivering his/her 2nd signature responsibilities and 3rd signature where appropriately delegated**

Key Capabilities/Knowledge

**- Good knowledge and comprehensive understanding of the range of processes, procedures and systems to be used in carrying out assigned tasks and a basic understanding of the underlying concepts and principles upon which the job is based
- Good fault identification and isolation skills
- Good understanding of aircraft publications and aircraft documentation set
- Computer literate and familiarity/training/access with specific aircraft maintenance information systems as required
- Comprehensive understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental regulations applicable to the nature of the work/facility
- Ability to make judgements based on practice and previous experience**

Experience & Qualifications

**- Apprenticeship in an aircraft engineering discipline, or equivalent experience in respective field
- BTEC Diploma or NVQ Level 3 in engineering or equivalent
- Evidence pack of recent Merlin work/tasks and proof of previous Merlin roles and work covered
- Merlin Qualification courses or on aircraft/equipment type or associated systems
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK Military Aircraft documentation procedures
- Computer literate and familiarity with specific aircraft maintenance systems especially GoldEsp and online Technical Manuals CIETP
- Incorporated Engineer/Engineering Technician status and relevant aircraft technical/supervisory experience (minimum of 5 years).
