You will be based at the Hull site, which is the largest producer of acetic acid, acetic anhydride and ethyl acetate in Europe. The products we produce are essential building blocks used in almost every industry, including renewable power, automotive, pharmaceuticals, coatings and têxtiles.

Hull is also home to the business's global technology development and support team and is based on the 370-acre Saltend Chemicals Park - a cluster of world-class chemicals and renewable energy businesses at the heart of the UK's energy estuary.

**The opportunity**

Shift supervisors are responsible for the shift to shift management of the operating plant in their assigned area, ensuring that their team achieves safe, reliable and cost efficient operation as well as being accountable for the delivery of the shift team’s annual priorities. They have full first line responsibility for management of a team of technicians, with a focus on empowering technicians to achieve their full potential. The Shift Supervisor takes direction from the Operations Team Lead for day-to-day activities.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Generate and uphold a positive culture within the shift by leading by example, proactively supporting other members of the management team and reinforcing the key INEOS 20 Principles and Life Saving rules.
- Management of the operating plant during their shift, ensuring that the team achieves safe, reliable, and cost-efficient operation.
- Accountable for driving safety, housekeeping, compliance, emergency exercise programme and handover standards for their area and shift.
- Accountable for the management and resolution of operational/technical/behavioural issues affecting the efficient and safe running of the asset during the shift.
- Primary responsibility for administering the permit-to-work system, undertaking HITRA assessments and ensuring that any maintenance preparations are correctly undertaken, and isolations correctly applied before and removed on completion of work.
- Ensure compliance with site standards and procedures
- Ensuring that plant operations are conducted in a safe manner, and that all safety and environmental regulations are followed.
- Manage Start up, shutdown and operation of the process with maximum efficiency.
- To undertake problem solving and decision making within a process environment.
- Ensure that shift teams support and feed into the maintenance planning and execution activities to enable development and delivery of the asset maintenance plan
- Provide shift cover as required to ensure continuous supervision is maintained in accordance with local shift cover arrangements.

**Level of Education & Experience**:

- The individual must be able to demonstrate they possess the relevant competencies for the role, having attained a level 3 NVQ in Process Industries Operation and/or City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Process Technology - Chemical Processes or similar

**Technical Experience**:

- Ability to demonstrate effective people management skills, ideally gained in a shift team environment.
- Ability to uphold and embed high standards of values and behaviours into a team.
- Ability to influence and motivate individuals within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with a performance driven attitude, who can work effectively and collaboratively with mínimal supervision,
- Strong diagnostic skills and problem solving are crucial to the role, allowing wise decisions to be made often from incomplete data.
- Working knowledge of ESD, DCS, control systems and all field equipment.
- You'll have a track record of following complex procedures or working instructions, and will have ideally gained experience of working in a hazardous environment where safe working procedures were of paramount importance.
- Your ability to operate effectively in a delivery-focussed and often fast-paced environment will be evident, and you should be able to demonstrate successfull learning adapting to new processes and procedures in a positive way.
- The role involves carrying out maintenance activities, including lifting and carry 20 kg from ground to waist level, as well as climb ladders and stairs.
