We are recruiting on behalf of our client, who is looking to recruit an Insurance Officer in a small team headed by the insurance manager.

Successful applicants must have 5 GCSEs graded A-C including Maths and English, a certificate of Insurance Practice (or equivalent) or evidence of knowledge gained in a professional environment to at least that level. You must have demonstratable skillsin using computer software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to produce high-quality work under pressure to meet deadlines, and the ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

Duties of the role include:

- Arranging effective external insurance policies for the client’s activities and the management of insurance funds
- Handling insurance claims using both internal and external claims handling arrangements
- Providing insurance and loss control advice and guidance to all areas of the council
- Assisting with the development/implementation of a comprehensive strategic risk management programme
- Developing/implementing a health and safety strategy for the resource’s directorate
- Coordinating/implementing the risk management strategy within the resources directorate, taking the lead on matters such as Equality and Diversity issues within resources, providing advice and guidance to the Head of Financial Operations on these issuesand the development of a business continuity plan for the division in line with the corporate policy and guidelines
- Provision of an insurance service to outside bodies/business partners
- Taking the lead in insurance schemes such as tenants contents scheme for the provision of insurance products to address social exclusion from Financial Services
- Taking the lead on the development/tendering/implementation/administration of a scheme of insurance for academy schools in the surrounding areas
- Responsible for pre/post renewal data collation and market presentation to support the cost effective premium rates and terms from the insurance market
- Responsible for advising clients of activities that require additional insurance arrangements, informing insurers of changes to operations that may require midterm changes to policies
- Overseeing management of commercial insurance portfolio including premium payments and recharges to commercial tenants, liaison with managing agents, internal property managers and relevant stakeholders and statutory risk management regulations
- Delivering accurate annual renewal documentation, web page update, stakeholder updates and post renewal duties
- Providing support to the insurance manager in the premium allocation and recharges processes, maintaining the claims and cost allocation databases to include the calculation and allocation of insurance premiums to service directorates
- Any other relevant duties as required

This position is a temporary role contracted until December 2023, working full time, paying £31,895-£37,568pa.
