Established in April 2007, CTPNW exists as one of five Counter Terrorism Units (CTU’s) within a National Counter Terrorism Policing (NCTP) framework, designed to strengthen the UK’s response to the threat from terrorism.
CTPNW manages and coordinates the operational counter terrorism response on behalf of the 5 North West forces: Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside. It also offers CT assistance and guidance to the Isle of Man Constabulary.
In addition to protecting the communities of the North West CTPNW also works hand in hand with the CTP South East, CTP North East, West Midlands CTU, Counter Terrorism Command and a network of Counter Terrorism Intelligence Units (CTIUs) to ensure that the United Kingdom is able to manage the national threat from terrorism.
The CTPNW investigations team are looking to recruit 1 investigations officer to support the unit. In this post you will be tasked with providing appropriate support to security service priority investigations and will be required to investigate crimes falling within national, regional and force counter terrorism and extremism control strategies.
One of the main responsibilities of this post will be to conduct thorough investigations to the highest standard with the aim of securing successful prosecutions for terrorism related offences. This may arise in reaction to live events or through development of intelligence in relation to identified threats.
1. Experience of investigations into complex and/or serious crime.
2. Experience of dealing with forensic submissions and exhibits within a serious or complex case.
3. Experience of dealing with intelligence relating to risk during an investigation and/or prosecution.

**Recruitment Team Contact**
**Other Information**
This is a designated post under the Force Vetting Strategy and the post will therefore attract an enhanced level of vetting.
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) level before taking up the post.
**Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals.** In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post

Please note that you will be required to provide an educational psychologist report in support of any adjustments.
You will find attached the Code of Ethics and Competency and Values Framework for policing, these nationally recognised behaviours and values set out the guidance that you will be tested against within any specialist recruitment process. This will provide a consistent foundation for a range of local and national processes to be evidenced and which CTPNW adhere to.
This framework will ensure that there are clear expectations of Police Officers working in a policing environment which in turn will lead to standards being raised for the benefit and safety of the public. GMP have now aligned their recruitment process for Specialist Police Officer posts to the Competency and Values Framework. As a result of this change the Leadership Expectations assessment criteria have now been removed for this recruitment proce
