Housekeeping/Laundry Assistant

44 hours over a 4 week rota to include working every other weekend.

**HOUSE KEEPING ASSISTANT**

1. The promotion and maintenance of a high standard of service within the care home.
2. To ensure the clean and hygienic maintenance of the home.
3. To keep a high standard of appearance in all areas and contribute to the quality of care and life style afforded to each resident. This is particularly applicable to each person’s privacy and dignity and in respect of each resident’s personal possessions.

Main Duties

1. To clean all allocated rooms, including furniture, fittings, fabric, floors and equipment to set standards.
2. To clean and disinfect all bathrooms and toilets.
3. Cleaning of resident’s individual rooms and performing of domestic work including, but not limited to, cleaning and washing of all items in situ and all surfaces.
4. To ensure that all cleaning chemicals are used correctly and economically.
5. Handle chemicals according to Health & Safety and COSHH guidelines. Keep all cleaning agents and chemicals locked away when not in use.
6. To clean sanitary and other equipment paying particular attention to guidelines for the control of bacteria and spread of infections.
7. Dispose of all clinical waste within guidelines.
8. To adhere to infection control policies at all times.
9. To follow the correct use of colour code systems within the Home.
10. Ensure that daily and deep cleaning schedules are adhered to.
11. To report any malfunction of equipment or fittings that require maintenance, or that cannot be kept to the standard through normal cleaning procedures and in the maintenance book.
12. To ensure the disposal of waste policy is adhered to at all times.
13. Carry out any other reasonable instructions of the Home’s Manager.
14. Carry out other ad-hoc duties as requested by the Head Housekeeper or the Home’s Management.
15. To ensure trolleys are re-stocked at the end of the shift and cleaning cupboards are left clean and tidy.
16. To be sensitive to the privacy and individual needs of the residents.

**LAUNDRY ASSISTANT**

1. To process the required throughput of laundry.

2. To sort and launder all items at the correct temperature settings in both

washers and tumble dryers and when ironing.

3. To ensure that detergents, fabric conditioners and other chemicals are

used correctly and economically.

4. Handle all detergents and cleaning agents according to Health & Safety

and Cossh guidelines.

5. To ensure the correct handling and laundering of soiled of infectious linen.

6. To report any malfunction of equipment or fittings.

7. To be responsible for regular/daily de-fluffing of the tumble dryers.

8. To allocate clothes to respective laundry shelf space and distribute clothes

to the resident’s rooms ensuring they are placed in wardrobes and drawers

as appropriate.

9. To ensure all clothing has the correct marking and report any unmarked

clothes.

10. To notify any shortage in linen requirements and also those items needing

replacement through wear and tear.

11. To keep the laundry in a clean and hygienic condition, including sweeping

and mopping of all floor areas daily and dispose of waste correctly.

Health & Safety
1. Report immediately to the Home Manager, or Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Resident, colleague, self or another.
2. Understand and comply with all statutory and legal requirements which are relevant such as Health & Safety, Emergency and Fire Procedures, COSHH, all aspects of the Care Standards Act, have a clear understanding of Infection Prevention and Control policies, procedures and measures to maintain a safe environment throughout the home.
3. Report to the Home Manager, or the Handyperson, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
4. Promote safe working practice in the Care Home

General

1. Promote and ensure the good reputation of Scalford Court.
2. Ensure that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.
3. Notify the home Manager, or person in charge as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, and also on your return to work from all periods of absence.
4. Ensure the security of the home is maintained at all times.
5. Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures.
6. Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
7. Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.
