Our outstanding County Durham based client are looking to recruit a Laser Operator on a permanent basis. If you have the relevant experience this role could be ideal for you**.**

**The Job You’ll do**
- Running lasers to cut profiles from various thickness of steel.
- Ensuring quality standards are met including cut quality, dimensional accuracy, dressing and surface finish.
- Ability to adjust the machine parameters to produce desired results.
- Carrying out preventative maintenance on laser cutting machines as well as loading tower.
- Liaising with material controller and CADCAM engineer to ensure material traceability and stock levels are accurate.
- Collating job packs with laser nests to correctly identify required laser programmes and materials.
- De-tagging, dressing, and kitting of laser cut parts. Maintaining accuracy to ensure correct quantities go on to the next operation.
- Engaging in 5S and continuous improvement projects within Starting Operations.
- Ensuring the laser runs continuously throughout the shift as well as between shifts 'lights out’ cutting to maximise throughput.
- Supporting the Starting Operations department in other production tasks where required - bending, stamping, projection welding.

**About You**
- An understanding, interest and enthusiasm for manufacturing and engineering in practical terms
- The ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- The ability to use inspection equipment to self-verify own work.
- Can fully understand and meaningfully contribute to discussion and decisions within the starting operations team.
- Self-motivated.
- Effective communicator.
- Can make accurate judgements and identify appropriate courses of action to address problems as they arise.
- Innovative and proactive problem-solving.
- Desired experience and qualifications.
- Experience in running lasers with loading tower, Durma lasers desirable but not essential.
- Must be willing to work shifts (2 week rotation).
