This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team as a Highway Safety Inspector. You will work closely with the network management and operational teams to undertake safety and service inspections in accordance with the current version of the Council Highway Maintenance Manual, ensuring defects are rectified in accordance with prescribed timescales. Other features of the job will be to issue informal notices relating to overgrown vegetation, training new and existing staff in inspection methods, dealing with the general public and liaising with utility companies on matters concerning remedial action on works.

**About you**

We are looking for you to bring:

- Previous experience of working within Highways and Environment is desirable with a proven track record of working in maintenance, surveys and inspections, either in office or on works.
- An understanding of sampling and testing of construction materials, engineering and construction techniques, and identification of defects.
- Thorough attention to detail
- The ability to work accurately to deadlines
- A sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Either 5 GCSEs, or equivalent (to include English and Mathematics) or NVQ2 in highway/environment maintenance (or equivalent CSCS accreditation)
- A full UK driving Licence

**Base: Mobile around the Cornwall - due to the safety critical nature of the role remote or hybrid working is not possible, applicants must live in Cornwall.**
