National Highways is recruiting an Assistant Delivery Manager within the Digital Services Directorate. The post is permanent. The post can be based from any of our office locations. Working from home and travel within England are possible, dependent on theassigned responsibilities.
The Assistant Delivery Manager will work as part of a team to plan, monitor and control all aspects of Digital Services projects and programmes. The post holder may work in support of a Lead Delivery Manager or in support of a Programme Office Manager.
This role will focus on delivery, planning, RAID (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies), change control, document management, reporting and progress evaluation. Actual responsibilities will vary over time, aligned to the project or programme of workto be delivered.
What you’ll be leading on
Manage aspects (the plan, budget, governance, health & safety, etc.) of small-scale IT projects across lifecycle to reach agreed business and strategic benefits and contribute to the management of contract compliance and risk in an effective way.
Support and enable delivery teams in the maintenance of accurate and complete project and programme data and information. Ensure the quality, completeness and integrity of data.
Develop and deliver analytical reports enabling effective management of project and programme scope, cost, schedule, outputs and efficiencies. Be prepared to develop and deliver bespoke reports on request.
Support DS Group or Programme Leaders to drive delivery against the agreed plan, assisting specific issues and being accountable for agreed actions.
Work with suppliers and other Directorates to ensure that all programmes/projects deliver best value and maximise benefits to customers, both during delivery and following completion.

Maintaining and delivery momentum - Able to facilitate the delivery flow of a team, managing the pace and tempo. Able to actively address internal and external risks, issues and dependencies including where ownership exists outside the team.
Making the process work - Able to make decisions characterised by medium levels of risk and complexity and recommend decisions as risk and complexity increase. Able to build consensus between services or independent stakeholders.
Planning - Has an awareness of the importance of planning and forecasting and the different ways to develop a plan
Communicating between the technical and non-technical - Able to effectively translate and accurately communicate across technical and non-technical stakeholders as well as facilitate discussions within a multidisciplinary team, with potentially difficult dynamics.Able to advocate for the team externally and can manage differing perspectives.
Change management - Able to analyse and assess impact, develops and documents change requests. Implements changes based on requests for change.
Knowledge and experience of Project and Programme Management and Controls Methodologies.
Accredited qualifications and/or experience in Programme Management Office or Programme / Project Management.
