**This position is offered at Band 4 Annex 21. The salary scale for the post is £27,598 **per annum rising in annual increments to **£30,019 **per annum. As a trainee your pay is determined as a percentage of pay for qualified staff, in accordance with Annex 21 of the Agenda for Change terms and conditions. As you are 1 year from completion of training you will receive 75% of the Band 4 maximum for qualified staff ,which equates to 22,514**. On completion of your training you will be placed on either the first pay point of the appropriate pay band or the next pay point above your training salary. **The Role**:
To assist the Team Leader in provision of a high quality payroll, expenses and superannuation service to NHS Lanarkshire.

Total preparation, validation and completion of expenses claims, i.e collating and checking paperwork, issuing cheque payments to relevant bodies, processing and checking, general travel expenses, leased cars and course expenses, telephone reimbursements and interview expenses.

Analyse, audit and assist in verification of computer payroll output documentation, including earning, calculate and error messages. taking corrective action as appropriate. Organisation and disrtribution of pay advices / returns including frequent internal and external mail shots to ensure accurate and timely payment and receipt of pay advices.

**What we'll need you to bring**:

- Payroll experience preferably in NHS Terms & conditions, with knowledge of current statutory regulations. Experience and knowledge equivalent to HNC level.
- Good communication / interpersonal skills
- Ability to use initiative and prioritise workload
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of accuracy
- Ability to handle all information in a confidential manner and respond to queries with tact and diplomacy
- Ability and willingness to undergo further training as necessary
- Flexible approach to meet the need of the service
- Problem solving skills

**It would be great if you also have**:

- 5 Standard Grades or equivalent including English and a numeric suubject
- Experience in the delivery of training
- Knowledge of the statutory regulations and NHS Conditions of Service
- Good team player

**Location and Working Pattern**:
This role will be based in Payroll within Kirklands

The working pattern for this role is 9-5 Monday to Friday
