We’re looking for a Lead Ranger to join our Property Leadership Team at Osterley.
Leading land management of the wider estate, you’ll ensure our 500,000 visitors each year can safely enjoy our beautiful green space.
Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll develop and coordinate varied cyclical and responsive tasks
Whilst inspiring your team of two Rangers and several volunteers, you’ll also collaborate with the wider property teams and various specialists to ensure excellent, sustainable care and conservation is delivered across all the property.
**Salary**: Offering a competitive salary **between £32,468 - £34,340 **depending on experience. **The advertised salary includes the Outer London Weighting allowance of £2,828 per annum.**
Hours: 37.5 hours a week. Weekend work is expected on a rota basis.
Contract: Permanent.

What it's like to work here:Osterley is an important site for recreation and wildlife. We have large areas of amenity grassland and a network of multi-use paths for visitors. The park is home to six species of bats, rare invertebrates, amphibians, birds and small mammals. There are two lakes, three meadows under mid-tier stewardship and a fantastic collection of specimen and veteran trees.
You’ll work with our tenant farmer who has a herd of Charolaise cattle, used to graze the woodland pasture in the Great Meadow.
About half your time will office-based working on planning, compliance and budget management. The other half will be out on the estate managing the land for the benefit of nature, the environment and our many visitors.
- What you'll be doing:commissioning specialist contractors
- contributing to a programme of conservation and engagement projects
- planning and delivering a programme of work to deliver our nature conservation ambitions
- supporting and developing recreation and access across the property
- Contributing to reducing our human footprint on the environment
- managing the budgets
- enhancing the Trust’s assets and reputation

Who we're looking forWe're looking for someone who has:
- Ability to effectively lead a team
- Excellent communication, customer service and stakeholder management skills
- Understanding of project management
- Knowledge of land, conservation and access management
- Strong organisation skills
- Confidence managing budgets, finances and contracts
- Knowledge of health and safety and compliance issues relating to the countryside and visitor activities
