The Older Peoples and Community Directorate are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, experienced Quality Matron. Responsible to the Associate Director of Nursing and Quality, this new post is is being introduced to the Directorate, to make positive changes for the benefit of our service users and staff. This post is open to Nurses and AHP’s.

Main duties of the job

The Quality Matron will deliver compassionate leadership in relation to quality standards within the Directorate, supporting the achievement of compliance and assurance against the framework which focuses on risk management and a strong professional oversight of Governance activities which are pivotal to the quality and safety of our services to support good clinical outcomes and patient and staff experience.

Strong links will be made with the Nursing, Quality & AHP department, Directorate Heads of Nursing and Practice Development Leads to ensure performance is maintained and to develop strategies to continuously improve patient safety and quality of care.

You will be confident in your clinical knowledge, and as a strong leader you must be a positive role model with the ability to facilitate change and motivate others to continually improve.

The post holder will provide clinical and professional leadership to the clinical teams in relation to work associated with achieving compliance and assurance against, the framework which focuses on risk management and a strong professional oversight of Governance activities which are pivotal to the quality and safety of our service to support good clinical outcomes and patient and staff experience.

To assist the Directorate to achieve quality performance key performance indicators

Demonstrate effective leadership whilst monitoring and maintaining professional standards and working collaboratively with internal and external key stakeholders

Lead on the implementation and monitoring of the programme of work associated with maintaining the clinical standards and Governance remits by targeting activity effectively and efficiently

- To work closely with Heads of Nursing, the complaints team and patient safety team to ensure that patient safety incidents and complaints are investigated in a timely manner, identifying immediate action and learning.
- To meet proactively with patients, carers, and family through “Matron surgeries,” early resolution meetings and other initiatives
- To work closely with Directorate Staff to ensure the risk register is maintained, implementing robust processes for oversight and that the register reflects all patient safety risks and non-compliance
- Work with the senior leadership team to oversee the performance against relevant quality key performance indicators, formulating improvement plans to address any adverse variance
